Child & Adolescent General Psychiatry Assessments Online
Our child and adolescent psychiatric assessments provide a structured and supportive environment for young people to express themselves comfortably. We adopt a child-centred and family-focused approach, recognising the importance of involving parents or caregivers throughout the process.
What the Child & Adolescent Assessment Includes
The psychiatrist will:
- Meet the child or adolescent individually
- Explore their thoughts, emotions, academic functioning and social relationships
- Assess developmental history, behavioural patterns and emotional wellbeing
- Review concerns raised by parents, teachers and significant adults
- Evaluate symptoms across school, home and social environments
At the end of the assessment, you will receive:
- A diagnostic impression or formal diagnosis
- A tailored treatment plan
- A one-month prescription if appropriate
- A summary report outlining key outcomes
For children below the age of 12, a parent, caregiver or guardian should attend the appointment alongside the child. Adolescents aged 12 and above are generally seen independently, with a parent meeting conducted afterwards where appropriate.
Appointment Duration
Child & adolescent assessment: 90 minutes
This extended format ensures enough time to evaluate multiple environments and gather information from both the young person and their parents.
